What was the best part about using DoubleClick for Publishers?
DoubleClick For Publishers is Google's hosted advertising management platform which allows you to sell traffic to your advertisers offers via games, mobile apps and webpages as well as websites. DFP offers you a centralized account from which you can deliver all of your ads. I like that their Google Ad Exchange and Google Adsense essentially compete against each other so you can get the most revenue out of the system this way. There is an advanced forecasting feature which helps give you an idea of the traffic possible to sell if to your advertisers which are cool.
I like that you can obtain insight about your entire company online with the performance of your campaigns. And uncover revenue opportunities from this data as well. You can view all of your inventory and utilize this insight while you can view inventory across all channels as well. Their yield optimization is automated so you are able to depend on having your most optimized ad to display at the right time. With the right copy and headline as well as a very compelling offer your end user can have a great ROI as well. It is also nice that you can trust in the Google infrastructure and know that you can scale upwards and not have to worry about this ever which is always good. They have world class malware protection and fraud protection as well.
What would you change about your experience with DoubleClick for Publishers?
This may seem silly but it was challenging to sign up for DoubleClick For Publishers from my regular Gmail. This is a minor issue that ironed itself out but having multiple Gmails which you commonly use can create a hassle when signing up for their services. I had to log off my work Gmail and then into my personal which I will use for my own business. But it did not take the first time or the second. After I managed to sign up it said access to their login page was still unauthorized. Anyways it was about a fifteen minute process to sort out which is uncommon in my experience basically as a daily Google user.
Overall Feedback
The platform is solid and relatively easy to use once you are able to login to your account. Compared to other platforms I found the initial campaign setup to be much more user friendly than a few other platforms I have experienced. It would take some time to get into a really efficient workflow with this platform but with consistent use it could become quite efficient. Of course, if you have the traffic to sell your inventory Google is a great place to do so long term. It's a very solid infrastructure so it's a very viable long term solution.
